Targeting the Titans: The Radical New Voyah Passion S Coupe-SUV

For the last couple of years, the global automotive spotlight has been intensely focused on tech companies building cars. Huawei, Baidu, and Xiaomi have upended the traditional playbook, with the wildly popular Xiaomi YU7 leading the charge in the “FUV” (Fusion Utility Vehicle) segment—sleek, fast, high-riding coupe-SUVs that look more like high-clearance exotic supercars than traditional family haulers.

Now, Dongfeng’s luxury electric arm is officially striking back. Meet the Voyah Passion S (internally codenamed “FE”). Hot on the heels of dropping its uncamouflaged official images, the Passion S isn’t just a sharp electric vehicle; it is a direct mechanical declaration of war against Xiaomi. Even more fascinating? Thanks to a groundbreaking corporate alliance, this low-slung, high-tech predator is highly likely to become a common sight on European highways.

The Design: Ferrari Purosangue Vibe with Carbon Fiber Accents

The original Voyah Passion launched as an executive luxury sedan, but the brand-new “S” moniker fundamentally reshapes the platform into a “tech-dynamic SUV.” Stretching a massive 5,050 mm (198.8 inches) in length, 1,998 mm wide, and 1,656 mm tall, it possesses an aggressive, wide-body stance that matches its rivals millimeter for millimeter.

Visually, the front profile shares more than a casual resemblance to the multi-million-dollar Ferrari Purosangue.

  • The Front End: It boasts a highly sculpted, sharp nose, featuring split-LED matrix headlights connected by an integrated light bar. The muscular hood comes carved with visible air deflectors, heavily accented with genuine carbon fiber trim.
  • The Side Profile: Aggressive, sweeping lines cascade down to flush pop-out door handles, framed by blacked-out wheel arches. The Passion S rides on massive 21-inch gunmetal forged wheels wrapped around eye-catching, high-performance orange brake calipers.
  • The Rear End: To optimize high-speed stability, the roofline flows into a prominent, hollowed-out aerodynamic spoiler and twin rear air extractors, ensuring it cuts cleanly through the air.

The Huawei Brain: 896-Channel LiDAR Super-Perception

You can’t claim to be a “tech-dynamic” vehicle in today’s landscape without serious computing power. Mounted directly above the front windshield sits a sleek, aerodynamic pod housing Huawei’s advanced 896-channel dual-optical path LiDAR system.

Integrated with the cutting-edge Huawei Qiankun intelligent driving architecture, this sensor suite gives the Passion S superhuman environmental awareness. According to technical data from Huawei, the system can detect tiny road debris just 14 centimeters (5.5 inches) high from over 120 meters away, giving the vehicle’s autonomous driving brain ample time to safely steer around hazards at highway speeds.

Power Specs: Up to 637 Electrified Horses

While it might look like an exotic Italian crossover, the engineering underneath is purely modern, cutting-edge electric architecture. The Passion S is built on an advanced 800-volt architecture, ensuring blazing-fast DC charging speeds utilizing a highly durable Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack.

Drivers will have the choice of two high-voltage powertrains:

1. The Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) Base Model

Equipped with a single, high-efficiency rear motor pumping out 300 kW (402 horsepower). This variant is engineered for drivers prioritizing maximum driving range while still offering enough punch to easily pin you back in your seat.

2. The All-Wheel Drive (AWD) Performance Flagship

For those wanting to chase hypercar performance, the AWD version adds a 175 kW front motor to the mix. The combined system output hits an absolute mountain of power: 475 kW (637 horsepower) and instant, tire-shredding torque. While it doesn’t quite match the borderline-insane 990 hp rating of the top-spec Xiaomi YU7 GT, a 637 hp footprint ensures the Passion S will effortlessly rocket from 0 to 100 km/h in the mid-3-second range.

The Stellantis Factor: Coming to a European City Near You

Perhaps the most disruptive aspect of the Voyah Passion S isn’t its horsepower or its LiDAR—it’s how it will be sold.

Stellantis (the automotive umbrella over Jeep, Ram, Peugeot, and Maserati) and Dongfeng officially signed a major Memorandum of Understanding to form a European joint venture. Under this 51/49 split partnership led by Stellantis, the brand will handle the exclusive sales, distribution, and localized engineering of Voyah’s high-end electric vehicles across Europe.

Industry analysts indicate that rather than importing the cars from China and facing massive tariffs, Stellantis is exploring plans to build Voyah vehicles directly on European soil—potentially at the Rennes plant in France.

The Verdict

Scheduled to officially hit the Chinese market by mid-year before setting its sights globally, the Voyah Passion S represents the new guard of premium electric manufacturing. By blending dramatic European styling, relentless AWD performance, and Huawei’s absolute best autonomous tech, Voyah has crafted a stunning package. Xiaomi might have defined the modern FUV segment, but Voyah is proving they are more than ready to fight for it.
